Lutea pinot noir vineyards are certified organic, some are also certified biodynamic. Organic agriculture prohibits the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Biodynamics takes this a step further by recognizing the importance of diversity on the farm and encouraging true sustainability. In short, it encourages onsite compost production, incorporates livestock, and uses cover crops to promote soil health and attract beneficial insects. Tasks, (such as planting, pruning, harvesting, ect.) are timed to the Earth’s natural rhythms to enhance growth, promote health and above all, grow superior fruit! These practices allow us to achieve a higher level of quality and wines of distinction.
As this becomes a more prevalent topic in our society, Lutea is proud of and committed to working with farmer’s who respect the earth, worker health and who strive for sustainability- and making great wine while we’re at it!
